Podnebje na Zemlji se neprestano spreminja, v zadnjem času pa se zdi, da postajajo te spremembe vse občutnejše. Znanstveniki danes soglašajo, da so podnebne spremembe dejstvo in da se ozračje v svetovnem merilu segreva.

Izhajajoč iz ugotovitev Medvladnega odbora za podnebne spremembe (IPCC) avtor v knjigi podrobno predstavlja šest možnih scenarijev za prihodnost Zemljine biosfere, če bi se v tem stoletju povprečna temperatura na svetu zvišala za eno, dve, tri, štiri, pet ali šest stopinj Celzija. Obeti niso nič kaj rožnati in knjiga Šest stopinj bo s svojo iskreno neposrednostjo osupnila marsikoga, ki se premalo zaveda, da ljudje s svojim ravnanjem puščamo v svojem okolju neizbrisne stopinje – sledove, ki jih bodo občutili še naši potomci.

Clovestvo se sedaj bojuje, da se ne bo vec kakor 2 stropinji (2 stopinji sta namrec že neizbežni)! Mogoce se vam zdi, da se to nas ne tice, ko v vsakodnevnem zivljenju ne obcutite vecjega pomanjkanja. Toda ravno mediteran naj bi bil med tistimi kraji na zemlji, ki naj bi bil mocno prizadet ob dvigu temperature!
