"Ime benda je plod omamne domišljije pevca Kolija,

ki je kot pravi slovenski patriot predlagal, da bi se imenovali Pivci.

Andrej Žibert pa je besedo prevedel v bolj internacionalni jezik in postali,

pa tudi ostali so The Drinkers.

Rojstvo

Skupina The Drinkers je nastala nekega soparnega julijskega večera leta 1993 v Litiji.

Takrat so jo sestavljali: Sandi Kolenc-Koli - vokal, Robert Likar - kitara,

Andrej Žibert - bobni, Miro Medvešček - bas in Evgen Malis - klaviature.

Omenjeni glasbeniki so bili tudi člani drugih skupin, zato je bila zasedba prava mešanica alternativnega jazzovskega benda Capela La Chateliere

in komercialne skupine Stik. Pravzaprav so se združili zgolj zato, da bi se z nekaj komadi predstavili na znanem litijskem festivalu Zarjavele trobente,

po izredno dobrem sprejemu, pa so sklenili nadaljevati skupno pot."
